Built around trust
Student marketplaces only work if people feel comfortable buying from people they don't already know.
Identity first
Every seller is verified before their first listing goes live
University verification
Students can verify their university status through Whop's identity checks. This isn't an email domain check — it's real KYC tied to a legal identity.
Connected payouts
Sellers must connect their payout account before publishing. Real bank details. Real identity. Real accountability.
Public seller profile
Every listing shows the seller's name, verification status, rating, sales history and response time. No anonymous accounts.
Reputation that mattersreputation
Real transactions build real credibility
Verified reviews
Reviews only come from completed purchases. No fake reviews, no review circles. Every review is tied to a real order.
Seller rating
A simple 5-star average across all transactions. Buyers see it on every listing. Sellers see it on their profile.
Transaction history
Completed orders, refunds, disputes — all visible. A seller with 200 clean orders has earned trust.
Dispute protection
Whop handles payment disputes and chargebacks. Sellers aren't left alone when something goes wrong.
What buyers see
Transparency on every listing
When a buyer lands on a listing, they see:
- Seller name and avatar — not "user123"
- Verification badge — identity confirmed, payouts connected
- Rating and review count — "4.9 ★ · 47 reviews"
- Sales history — "247 orders · 63 returning customers"
- Response time — "Usually replies within 2 hours"
- Refund/dispute rate — visible if above threshold
This isn't a profile page they have to click through to. It's right there on the listing card and the listing page. Trust is surfaced, not hidden.
What sellers protect
Good sellers have something valuable to lose
In a WhatsApp group or Instagram DM, a bad transaction disappears. The seller changes their handle and moves on. On TUQO, a bad transaction stays attached to their profile forever.
Their reputation is the asset.
Sellers with strong histories get more visibility in search, priority in category placement, and buyer trust that no marketing can buy. A 4.9 rating with 200 orders is worth more than any ad spend.
This alignment — where the platform's incentive (more sales) matches the seller's incentive (protect their rating) — is what makes the marketplace self-regulating over time.
Whop's role
We don't handle money or identity — Whop does
Payments
Checkout, payment processing, fraud detection and chargeback handling are all Whop. TUQO never touches buyer payment data.
Identity
KYC, document verification, university status checks — all handled by Whop's compliance infrastructure.
Payouts
Sellers connect their bank account to Whop. Payouts, tax forms and compliance are Whop's responsibility.
